Great Britain “stood alone” during these bleak eight months of the Blitz: The United States would not enter the war against Germany until December 1941. The Blitz never achieved its intended goals of either demoralizing British political and military leaders into capitulation or significantly damaging the country’s economy to continue the war. Hitler tabled his planned amphibious and aerial invasion of Britain, Operation Sea Lion. By the time the last bombs had fallen on London on May 10, 1941, in a particularly savage climax to the Blitz (507 aircraft dropped 711 tons of bombs, killing or wounding more than 3,000 people), the invasion threat had passed, and Hitler’s attention was directed eastwards to the Soviet
I think the video was very interesting! It clearly portrayed how they lived and work during the difficult time; Especially the stories they told about the People, -Marinda
I loved watching this! It gives us a real insight to how people reacted in the beginning versus the end. We also know how these people were feeling and I think it will really help with our character development
I liked this video a lot. It was chilling to see the reality that those people had to go through that stuff day in, and day out. I Think this video will help us dig deep into the emotions that these people went through daily.
I thought the video was very informative and intriguing. I think seeing that will make it easier to identify what our characters were feeling. It helped me make the connection between the play and the reality that has passed.
I think watching this video really helps us see and feel the emotions that these people went through every single day. This will help us understand our feelings and emotions better throughout the play.
I watched the video and I think the stories were sad but it was a interesting video. I think the video will make the actors in the play be more in touch with each other! -Taylor Cox
After watching the video I can now understand the pain that every one went through and how damaging the war was not only to cities but to the people among the countries involved in the war
I loved watching this video, and getting to see how each person lived during the blitz. I think this will help me develop as a character, because I will get to portray the emotions that I saw in the video. -kate
it’s so absurd that something like this happened and then life just continued on. It’s astounding to think that everyone involved experienced the blitz through their own eyes and had to fight their own personal wars. seeing the real life account from the elderly people who were children when it occurred was jarring.
this video provided a lot of information! the stories told and the images put how they lived into perspective. i think this will help us understand and show more emotions
I think this video was very eye opening to me. Seeing the real life stories of those who were children during that time helped me get a sense of what it would have been like to actually be there. I think some characters in our play can really connect to some of the stories told in the video and potentially take the play to the next level.
Seeing the stories of people who actually lived like this and just went on with life really helped me understand what they were going through and feel the emotions that they had
It is so hard to imagine what these people endured. I like how early on in the video it was said that they thought the sirens were the same as they had heard and that they expected nothing to come from them but they ended up being bombed anyway. I think each character needs to find their story and live it just as these people did in order to connect better with themselves and everyone you interact with.
After all the stories of what these people went through you have to truly connect yourself to their lives to understand what they endured. You have to take yourself out of your body and place yourself in that time where you were struggling against your own fear and terror. We first have to capture that feeling of pain and misery in ourselves to express to the audience so they can also feel the agony our characters are going through.
I thought this was an amazing video! One thing that really stuck out to me was when they talked about how they weren't even phased when the sirens started going off because it was a very common thing. I think it would be really good if everyone chose someones story from the video and tried to match their emotions.
We need to know, see, and understand these feeling and this video opened up a lot of our eyes. This will help us as grow and mature through this play. -Riley Emery
What an amazing video, but a little longer than expected. Ok watching the videos and seeing the constant state of anxiety and pain that they endured was eye opening. As Frank I have to connect with that simple fact that I am going into a war zone but at the same time leaving my family in one. As Frakker I have to try and be the bigger and abusive man in the midst of a stressful situation where everyone is just trying to stay alive. The families were torn apart and they had to try and stitch them back together best they could with limited resources. It was hard seeing how people had to keep going in a life were all they loved could be ripped away literally at any moment. As hard as it will be to try and connect to a man who was forced to leave his family and die for his country while knowing his family is at home feeling the same emotional stress will be tough but I gladly except the challenge.
I absolutely loved the emotion that was in the video. The trial the families went through was astounding! We can learn a lot from this video on how they felt and there emotion.
I really enjoyed watching this video, it explains so many questions I had about the play. I think that we need to really look at how everyone was feeling and going through in the video. If we can transfer their emotions into our play, we can improve so so so much. I also think that we should all come up with backstories to our characters so that we can really become our characters and improve our play in that department as well. I think that if I work on using this video to help drive the play and make it amazing. If we all push ourselves this year i think we can do great things:)
This video was tough to watch, because it really made me feel for those people. It':s easy to act in a play, but it's harder to act in a play where you are apart of history. We are representing the mothers and sisters that went through that and the only way to do them justice is to show the audience how they truly felt. Terrified. Nervous. Hopeless. Scared. This is so much more than a play, and this video reminded me of that.
this video was so crazy to me!!! it’s amazing that these people live through this and think it’s normal. watching the planes fly over really surprised me, they almost looked like ants and were so in sync it was almost eerie.
I really liked this video and all of the feelings and emotions in it. After seeing all that they went through during this time, it really helps me to understand their pain and what they suffered through. It really answered all of my questions that I had about the play.
This was very scary to me. I think the people who had to go through this are so brave for staying and fighting through it. Also being able to open up and tell their stories is remarkable. I don't know how I would react in that situation or if I'd even have enough courage.
It is crazy to see all the pain they suffered through. I know the people were so scared but they still fought through it. The video really was shocking to see all of the people going on with their lives in the middle of this entire thing.
Great video! (lowkey 7th time I typed this and didn't know it wasn't posting... everything's fine...) I live how it helps realize the mentality of war. It's helps us understand how life will continue go on no matter circumstances. We need to learn from this and use those emotions on stage.
This is my farewell blog post! I love all of you and I hope y'all kill it this year! I can't wait to watch y'all and see all of the work you put in. Mrs. Couch, thank you for all that you've done for me and my family, I consider you as a part of our family and I could not be more thankful for you.
