This rehearsal wasn’t as good as it should have been, but I believe it was a productive day. The more we keep practicing the more we are gonna get better. To better this show, I will become even more organized backstage to make the actors life easier and stress free. I want to make sure everyone is out on stage on time and prepared for each one of their scenes.
ReplyDeleteGreat rehearsal today! As we continue in this competition, everyone needs to make spontaneous decisions which will cause more real reactions. Especially now we need to make sure that we don't look too rehearsed (slow motion is!).
ReplyDeleteI think today was pretty good, but could have been better. Yes I am taking down house with Alee! I think if we set up the bricks on the pylon will I crawl out I can tumble over them.
ReplyDeleteI hope we continue to work hard towards bi-district. We need to think through our actions and not just do as we have rehersed, especially towards today. I struggle with this as well. In my monologue, I have to continuously image and remind my self what I am going though as a character. I see the Ashes on my arms and feel the hot air. My goal is to put as much meaning into every word because everyword holds a tremendous amount of meaning. It is important to not looked rehersed, even if that means changing your motions or facial expressions a little to mix it up and break that rehersed feeling.
while today was still an okay rehearsal, it wasn't our best. every chance we get to rehearse we need to use to our advantage. try to work on just improving little things in your character every rehearsal. eventually all of the little changes you make add up to a major change that adds to the reality of the show.
ReplyDeleteI think our biggest problem really is spontinality. We've rehearsed this show so much that our actions are starting to become robotic. We do the same things, say lines the same way, travel on the exact same paths, etc. We need to continue to make this play fresh and new by trying new things within the realm of our characters. This will keep us thinking and acting like our characters as opposed to simply going through the motions. I also loved what Cooper was saying today about how the whole show should be filled with so many people noises that when Joan shoots the soldier and it gets silent, it's a stark difference from the constant noise of the entire show up until that point. I will work on varying my people noises, adding more of them, and making them louder so as to be noticeable. It's really the nitty-gritty details like these that will send our play to the top!
ReplyDeleteEverytime we practice we seem to get more used to the play and kinda of just go through the motions to get the practice over with, i think we need to start paying more attention to what we are saying and doing and whether or not we are connecting to the characters. We should also be working on being more spontaneous. Spontaneous by making sure everything you say and do is the best you can do.
ReplyDeleteMake things spontaneous!! We are so used to this play and we’re just going through the motions. That’s not going to cut it later on. We have to give 110% every rehearsal. Really feel what your character(s) would have felt. Make people noises that they have done. Move like they would have. Be them!
ReplyDeleteOne of the things that I really noticed while I was out in the audience was the people noises. I could see the reactions on your face, and I could see that you were mouthing things, but I couldnt hear people at all, except for cooper usually. Trust me, I DEFINITELY need to work on this too, because if we get that down, it will make this show much more believable and real.
ReplyDeleteI think we could stand to try and make ourselves feel what we are doing. Emotion will make the play a whole lot more spontaneous and authentic. We still have stuff to fix, so don't slow down now.
ReplyDeletewell my previous comment got deleted but here we go again...I think we did really well at our practice on saturday. in the years past, it has always been rough trying to get focused and remember lines, but i think we did a really good job of that on saturday. Eli and i will work on freezing during the joan and brain scene, it is sometimes hard for us because of the next scene we have to go right in to, but we will work on it. I will also work on laughing when tom comes in in the goodbye scene. it will be more of a sad laugh because i believe i am still sad during that scene. tonight lets do a good job of getting focused and getting stuff done. we need to fix the little things and get everything together before bi-distrit. if you have things to fix get them to mrs couch before friday..probably before thursday too. we only have a little while more to keep pushing and working to be the best we can be. we need to start putting in extra effort in every part of the play, whether it be a freeze or people noises, anything. if we want to make it all the way this is what its doing to take. our hard work will pay off but we have to go all in. we can do it!! lets push till the end, we got this!!!
ReplyDeleteI feel like over all, being that we just got back from spring break, saturday and sunday we’re good rehearsals. coming back is rough, and I know we shouldn’t get cocky, but i feel like we hit it pretty hard coming back. we just gotta keep the faith and bring the heat at contest!
ReplyDeleteThe paper you gave me at the beginning of rehearsals the war machine said it came out when Eli says “I can’t hear a thing” would you rather it be there or as soon as the bomb hits? I can do either or!

ReplyDeletei think yesterday’s practice was good, not the best but still okay. i think we’re just getting so used to the show, it’s getting slow while it needs to be spontaneous. we really just need to get to get in touch with our characters, and live their lives instead of ours. i really think we need to look over our character sketches before bi district to see things from their perspective. back stage, i feel like costume changes and getting props is going a lotttt smoother than previously which is good. i think we need to work as a family and push ourselves to really become the best we can be
ReplyDeleteI wasn’t there for Sunday’s rehearsal but on Saturday I think it helped a lot. However, I guess I’m going to have to keep saying it, but the crying that Bela does isn’t working. It looks fake. Watch kadyn cry. She does it very well. Or don’t cry at all and just look mournful.
ReplyDeleteOh I almost forgot! Maky had an idea yesterday for my death as the parachuter! What if I were to die going towards the grey set instead of just standing there and getting shot because Maky said I look like I’m in slow motion when I see Ashlynn with the gun. It feels really awkward to me just standing there because Kadyn already tried to kill me so I know they mean business so I don’t think I’m just gonna freeze and stay there and wait for Ashlynn to put down her gun because she obviously isn’t going to.
ReplyDeletei agree with everyone that this wasn’t our greatest rehearsal. every rehearsal we need to work really hard and do our best to get better. but for just getting back from spring break it was good work. we need to keep pushing forward and give our all every time we meet.
ReplyDeleteI feel like we kind of backtracked after spring break but we did put in hard work at this past rehearsal. We need to keep improving and giving critiques to each other. Good job y’all!
ReplyDeleteI’m surprised at the fact that we had amazing rehearsals after spring break... that just proves that we have a strong group. We need to keep improving though.

ReplyDeleteI am looking to improve my part in the bombing scene by intead of being so out of control to be in shock because this is the first time a raid has ever happened which really spices up the fear factor. If we are too crazy it looks too fake.
ReplyDeleteIn order to make Judith and Franks last scene so impactful we have to make the rest of the show loud and full or people noises. The silence at the end of the show will make that scene so much sadder because it is the one time the stage is quiet and they really feel the heartbreak
ReplyDeleteI think the main thing we have to deal with is just staying in character. We need to be confident and focus on changing the people in the audience instead of just putting on a performance
ReplyDeleteI will work today with the loosening my tie bit. I will try to make it seem like I’m more stressed out about my wife seeing our son. Jonathan Calderon
ReplyDeleteI think our people noises and breathing did a lot better last night. If we keep working and improving our sound I think we can make the show really unique. I also need to work on always being in character, especially when I cross backstage because Tulias back curtain don’t close all the way. It’s also just really good practice to stay in character all the time, that way it will be easy when contest comes. Now we need to work on the screaming but I know if we put our minds to it, we can get it done.
ReplyDeleteDo not forget that the bomb is at least 100lbs. Make it look like you are somewhat struggling to carry it.
ReplyDeleteI know that me and Kadyn have some issues moving around and facing the audience, but if we keep the thought of seeing the audience more often it’ll I guess click I just have to constantly remember.
