March 20, 2018 for rehearsal on the 19th
Everyone
|
First song was a little fast.
In the first bombing scene, be stunned then run for cover. Stay out until right before Chamberlain
starts speaking.
Offstage – everyone remember to SHHHHHHH
Bricks are HEAVY – don’t kick them around.
Tipperary needs to be louder and we need one more loud cryer/singer
like Sheila.
Freeze when German hits the ground.
Good people noises during letter.
We need to move bricks where soldier and Angie stands.
Practice walking in character when crossing in the back.
|
Music & Fog
|
Bring music up more on first cue.
Too loud in Tom and Mira’s scene.
Last bombing was too loud.
Turn it down during Tom’s and Judith’s lines then backup.
Fog when Kate comes out.
|
Angie
|
Try having your back to the bomb.
LOVE you crying.
|
The Briggs
|
More people noises as the Briggs walk off in the beginning. Mr. Briggs, vocalize something when you
strike the Cricket bat.
LOUDER and CONSONANTS – Mr. Briggs and Alister
Hide cricket bat in second scene.
Make it evident.
|
Justice family
|
Where is the watch?
|
Frank
|
Look back over RIGHT shoulder in farewell scene.
Great on I’ll take none of you.
Fuse line was good.
In first scenes, come behind Judith EXACTLY like you do in the end –
I won’t even say goodbye.
|
Factory women
|
Traitor – big vocalization
Sabotage – big vocalization.
|
Dead girl/Val
|
Make sure you step over the bricks
Please keep from moving back and forth when your feet are
planted. They will kill us for that.
Love both your girls!
|
Judith
|
Smell the shirt.
Woman like this in our midst – as though someone else is saying this –
maybe Joan has said this?
I’ll work – hit consonants.
Freeze when bar scene is going on.
|
Photographer and Bela
|
Get in the light. Most photographers
in those days crouched and did different levels. I love your Bela character. Be louder in your first scene as
photographer.
|
Alister
|
Louder and cheat out in first scene.
Second scene – cheat out more.
|
Gently family
|
Frank and Judith, we can’t see the kiss.
Remember to freeze.Get your suitcase out when you come out first
time.
|
Women
|
Remember to slow down at the end of the farewell scene. Match Viv’s weirdness.
Leg is GONE – drop shredded flags.
NO SHRIEKING!!!!!
Remember your ages
|
Tom
Val’s brother
|
Don’t run so much. We will
work on that today. Cracker Barrel does not have planes. You will have to act. Look up at the beach. Use your shovel as a plane at times and
look up. Quieter on the gray. Plane
noises need to be louder and more. Do
the whistling that a spitfire does.
Val…..VAL (SCREAM) You are
scared to death!
Be weirder….. Look at past videos.
Rock as Tom
|
Sheila
|
Great job in factory scene.
More vocals in factory scene.
I’ll be gobsmacked = I AM AMAZED.
|
Joan
|
Tonight was the best you’ve done Joan.
Guts for garters was great!
|
Soldier 2 & Angie
|
Walk up saying your first line – looking all around. Give us a sec to process Judith’s scene
before yours.
|
Brian
Spender
|
As Spender, no pause between any words in this line –falling all around.
All of your characters are great – love Brian the best.

Do not forget that if you have anything that is broken you need to get it to her by Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteI felt like monday was a good performance for us, I hope we can keep the energy! when we get to tulia, please remeber to keep the professionalism both friday and saturday. this will be nothing like district!
ReplyDeleteI was glad we were able to work on me and Cooper’s scene. And I’m also glad that we worked out the ending it feels so much more natural to me and way less awkward! Let’s keep taking steps forward and don’t take any backwards.
ReplyDeleteI think our rehearsal Monday was very good. It was very productive that day. I believe now that we have worked on the last scenes and factory scenes, it will be more natural and easier for the actors. We need to keep up the people noises. It was great Monday night. Also Ashlynn and Eli did and amazing job as their characters. I think we are gonna do amazing, if we keep up the good work and remember all the things we need to fix!
ReplyDeleteI’ll keep up my people noises, but also make it deeper so it’s not squeaky. I’m also going to focus on my commanding gestures for each character
ReplyDeleteI'll make sure to keep my hands up during the Tipperary scene. And better facial expressions as well
ReplyDeleteI suggested once before that we move one of the women towards Evan at the end so as to push him into Ash but I think we fixed the scene well and it’ll be a good way to finish the play at bi
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for bidisttrict! I think if we really work on people noises and focus in on our characters, we can make it our best performance yet. Remember Tulia's stage is different, so we will have to adjust some things, but we're a good group who can work around those type of things. Don't forget not to change your awards outfit!!
ReplyDeleteThe first song was a little fast, but the energy was great! Make sure you have energy in every scene but let the tempo vary. Also, we can't let accents go away...otherwise, great rehearsal!
ReplyDeleteI think all of our stuff needs to be bigger. Everything on stage needs to be seen and heard from the back row. I think we need to fill the whole aiditorium with our abilities.
ReplyDeleteI think all of our stuff needs to be bigger. Everything on stage needs to be seen and heard from the back row. I think we need to fill the whole aiditorium with our abilities.
ReplyDeleteI really need to work on my diction and the projection of my voice. I am so proud of all the work we have done so far, and hope we can keep it going.
ReplyDeleteI have fixed all the critiques above. Starting the line on coopers leg really helped to be able to freeze while the bar scene is going on. I will continue to work on hitting consonants.
ReplyDeleteWe did great I know this is a place for critiques but I think some positive stuff should be said: we are doing amazing keep it up.
ReplyDeleteI think bi district was one of our best performances. We have fixed most the things we were rough on. I do think that we should set up quicker so riley can have enough time doing music
ReplyDeleteI think we are doing a fantastic job! Keep working on you people noises and keeping your character’s body language all the way off the stage and on. Yall are doing amazing let’s keep doing great!
ReplyDeleteOne main thing that is getting to be difficult as y'all continue is that everyone is anticipating everything that is going to happen. To prevent this try getting as deep into your characters mind as you can so you are thinking and reacting as they would. Also everyone needs to be spontaneous. doing this will allow everyone to see the play through fresh eyes and react genuinely to everything that is happening. We are doing great!
ReplyDeleteWe really are making some good progress but I feel like we are plateau-ing. Like we’ve hit are peak and are just staying the same. That cannot happen!! Every competition we will run into bigger and better competitors. Every rehearsal we have to step and decide that we will be better no matter if we feel like it or not because there are 31 other people that are depending on YOU! Be an active listener on and off stage. Don’t anticipate what is coming next. I think it’s also very important that we don’t allow bad vibes from ourselves or anyone else effect our energy or the energy of others because it can and WILL be noticed!!
